A note before you write

Shibamatsu reads every message, though replies arrive at the pace of a long walk. If your note is time-sensitive, please say so gently in the subject line.

This page is less a doorway and more a porch — somewhere to sit, gather your thoughts, and decide what feels worth saying.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept guest essays?

Yes, particularly pieces that braid medicine with everyday craft. Share a working title and a paragraph about what is troubling you. Submissions are read in the order they arrive, usually within two weeks.

Can I pitch a collaboration?

Of course. Tell us about the project, the audience, and where you imagine Shibamatsu contributing. We favour work with a clear ethical frame and unhurried scope.

Will my message be kept private?

Always. Correspondence is held in confidence and never published without written permission. We treat letters the way we treat patient stories — with care and restraint.

Do you offer editorial mentoring?

Informally, yes. We can read early drafts and respond with marginal notes. Mentoring is offered when time allows and never at commercial rates.
